GNBBA New Britain Judicial District Law Day

Judge Jon M. Alander, New Britain JD Administrative Judge opened the Law Day celebration and welcomed the crowd of Judges, Attorneys, Court Staff, Award Recipients and Friends of the Bar.

He was especially pleased to thank our distinguished guest speaker, Connecticut Supreme Court Associate Justice, Carmen E. Espinosa.

GNBBA President Michael F. Romano gave opening remarks with a short description of the purpose of Law Day and how it applies to us today.

Past President, Stephen F. Cashman introduced the Liberty Bell Award Winner, MacArthur Hamilton. Dayna Snell was presented the Community Serivce Award by GNBBA Treasurer, Stephen L. Mangan. Although she was unable to attend, the President's Award was given by Judge Arnold Aronson to Randa Hojaiban (which was accepted by David Coughlin).

Mayor Tim O'Brien presented a proclamation from the City of New Britain and GNBBA Vice-President Melissa Silvanic read one from the Governor of Connecticut, Dannel P. Malloy

Justice Espinosa spoke fondly about her having grown up in New Britain and sitting in our JD as the first Hispanic Judge. She expressed the work ethic and determination she learned from her parents that carried her forward in her careeer and her life.

Danny Quinn opened and closed our ceremony with his guitar and his patriot renditions of America the Beautiful and God Bless America.  Many of us present proudly joined in (although its a good thing we get paid for other things).

The New Britain JD Law Day celebration concluded with a light reception in the Court Library.

Thanks to all who attended.
