May 1, 2017 - CELEBRATION OF LAW DAY - Judicial District of New Britain

Administrative Judge, Joan Alexander, opened court and welcomed the Superior Court Judges, Honorees, featured speaker Judge Henry S. Cohn, GNBBA Members, the Holmes Elem. School Choir and guests of the Greater New Britain Bar Association to the New Britain Judicial District which joined in courts across America to celebrate the Rule of Law - Law Day!

Awards & Presentations
GNBBA President, Richard H. Pentore opened the ceremonies, read a Law Day proclamation from Governor Dannel P. Malloy and introduced our featured speaker, Judge Henry S. Cohn who gave us a historical perspective on the equal protection clause.
Corporation Counsel Joseph Skelly presented a proclamation from New Britain Mayor Erin E. Stewart.

GNBBA Vice President, Peter Soulsby, introduced and presented the 2017 Liberty Bell Award, to Assistant Public Defender, David J. Cosgrove.
GNBBA Treasurer, Stephen L. Mangan, introduced and presented the 2017 Public Service Award to community volunteer, Gerry Amodio.
GNBBA President, Richard H. Pentore, introduced and presented the 2017 President's Award to supervising assistant state's attorney, Mary Rose Palmese.

Attendees enjoyed an opening song of the Star Spangled Banner by the Holmes Choir. The Choir concluded with an emotional rendition of "We Are the World". Thank you kids and Director, Annie Serravalle.

Judge Alexander adjourned court and the attendees enjoyed refreshments and banter in the 5th floor library.
